High potential and gifted education (HPGE)

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with  HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom
Our classroom practices effectively support and extend high potential and gifted students by using differentiated tasks that vary in pace and complexity while encouraging higher-order thinking. Teachers explicitly teach critical thinking and problem-solving strategies, which helps students develop essential analytical skills. Flexible grouping arrangements promote collaborative ideation and presentation, fostering communication and creativity among students. These approaches create a dynamic learning environment where gifted learners are challenged and engaged.
Across our school
Our school provides a diverse range of whole-school programs designed to support student growth across multiple areas. These include university linkages that create pathways for further education, expert coaching in a variety of sports to enhance physical development, and specialised workshops led by local artists that nurture creativity. Additionally, leadership initiatives encourage students to develop essential life skills, while STEM investigations promote critical thinking and innovation. Complementing these programs are wellbeing initiatives aimed at supporting students' mental and emotional health, ensuring a holistic approach to student development.
Across NSW
Our students engage in a wide range of programs designed to extend their potential, including opportunities that develop their skills and interests. We collaborate with technology experts from the NSW Department of Education to enhance and advance our robotics capabilities, ensuring students receive expert guidance in this area. Additionally, we partner with NSW sporting programs to provide access to a variety of sports, allowing students to cultivate their athletic potential through diverse and quality opportunities.
